It is only a four hour drive from Eden in NSW to Sale in Victoria, and I was in no hurry as my friends were not due home until 9.30 pm.
I loaded the car, said goodbye to Eden and set off. The route I went was through forests for most of the time. I didn’t wander “off course” at all – but made the most of what I saw along the way.
Before leaving Eden I took a few photos.
I went off the highway into Orbost. Very interesting history, and lovely to see the Slab Hut being well used as a Visitor Information Centre.
Then I went to a very interesting place just out of Orbost. It is where the Snowy River empties into Bass Strait, at Marlo. I ventured along the road to Marlo, which was very interesting. Many old corrugated iron and timber buildings along the river. Not easy to stop and take photos, but I managed to record a few.
I reached Sale late in the afternoon, and had a little look around but it was cold and wet, so I went to McDonalds and worked on my computer until nearly 8 pm and then went to meet up with my friends. They’d left a message for me to get into the house, but I couldn’t open the front gate, so sat and waited until they arrived home. Then we chatted and drank Port – I had a good sleep.
