Look out Ghan, here I come!

I am excited.  In just over a week, I head off to Darwin to board the Ghan for its four-day journey to Adelaide.  Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs, Coober Pedy, Adelaide.  In my own cabin on the train.  Whoo Hoo.

I am going with a friend, but we have our own cabins – side by side I am told.  I am a bit of a train buff – and this is going to be awesome.

We leave Beachmere around 6 am for the drive to Brisbane – for the 9.35 am flight.  Do we need to be that early?  Maybe.  Traffic on the highway may be an issue.  My car will be left in parking – Portside  – and then the shuttle to the airport.  So one does have to leave plenty of time.

In Darwin we will stay in a backpacker’s type place, and have two nights there.  We have to be at the train station by 8 am on the Saturday morning – August 1st, and set off on an exciting journey.  I have been to some fo the stop-over spots but still keen to revisit.  It is a while since I have been to Alice Springs.

When we get to Adelaide, we have one night and fly out early in the morning on Virgin Airlines.

I don’t have much in the way of photos now – but you can read this article.
