I left Sale early in the afternoon and headed for Port Melbourne to board the Spirit of Tasmania.. It was a pleasant drive, despite the miserable weather, and I reached the port in plenty of time. One has to queue for a while, but soon we were loading, and I drove my car into the parking area on level 5. I took a while determining what I wanted to take with me – was going to sleep in a recliner chair, so needed a blanket and a few other things.
My car was on level 5, and when I had gathered my pillow, rug etc I headed off to Level 7, which had cafe, bar, shop, tourist info etc as well as plenty of seating for passengers. There were four television stations around the rooms, so one can watch their favourite program. I had something to eat, and a glass of wine, before I wandered around the ship or watched television. Eventually, as I was tired, I went to my seat on level 8. It wasn’t easy to sleep – they were not the most comfortable of recliners, but I managed to get some shuteye.
It was a relatively good crossing – only a few rocky spots, and I managed to get some sleep. Was glad to arrive in Devonport on time, and soon was on my way again.
I headed for Launceston, as I had a booking at The Mews, a motel which was more a B & B, with only 6 suites not far from the centre of the city.
