My Purple Bear

Did I have a premonition about the Ultimate Blog Challenge?  I wrote about one of my teddy bears – not knowing that it was Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day around this time.  I do take one with me – she lives in my car.  She’s quite a well travelled bear, having ridden in the front with my when I did my round Australia solo journey in 2011/12.

Lily is a purple bear.  A special bear – more so for the journey we travelled together, and that she is purple.  I have had an obsession with the colour purple since 2008.  I think the obsession snuck up on me when I was in China as an English teacher.  Apparently, according to my students, I had a few purple things, so for my farewell, the bought or made more purple things and the “obsession” has grown since then.IMG_4857

As a child I didn’t have a teddy bear that I can recall – so I have a neat collection of teddies that live in my guest room, and I have had many a small child (grand children usually) enjoy their company.  When I was travelling one of my grand daughters took care of my bears too, but they happily live with me now.

I have a collection of animals and puppets that travel in my car and enjoy them immensely, though not a purple teddy bear. It’s nice to meet an Aussie blogger via UBC since my last historical fiction was set in Tasmania! Did you visit there when you did your ’round Australia tour?

      Hi Beth
No, I have not been to Tasmania. I did round the mainland which took me five months as I stopped a lot with friends and family. One day I may go, but my body does not like cold places so I tend to avoid Tassy though I know it is beautiful. Historical fiction? Mmmm. Have just found your book on Amazon. Will jave to get it. (I do have a Kindle). Have you been to Tasmania? Australia?
