Best Laid Plans Change
It’s all written down. Tidy Sewing Box – Done. Shred unwanted papers in blue box – Done. Still more to do from other boxes – maybe later. Sew – three minor repairs to be done. After lunch. Nope. It doesn’t matter how organised one is, plans do have a habit of not following the rules.
I was just finishing off my lunch when I heard noises at my front door. I don’t know why folk don’t use my doorbell!
“Help. There’s a baby bird needing help.” I think to myself, why me? Not something I normally do. But, I guess I might be able to. I grab a small carton that is sitting near the front door waiting to be taken to the recycling bin. The man tells me I might have to climb under a car to get it. He can’t – bad back he says. OMG!
But when we reach the car the bird is sitting within easy reach so I scoop it up easily and place it in the box. It’s quite vocal, but since I don’t understand bird I’m not sure if it is happy or whinging about the wound on the side of its face.
Oh, the man says, we will have to phone the RSPCA. It’s a public holiday. So I race back into my unit with the box and the chipping baby bird (I don’t know what species it is), and quickly change. With the box in hand, I go to the car. I drive to the Emergency Vet – I’ve never been there before, and go in the wrong entry and get lost. I find my way to the entrance eventually and hand it over. Box and bird. I give my details. Then leave to find my car.
I figure since I am close to the supermarket, I should buy the items I planned to get later. My shopping list is on my phone. Where? I left it at home. Darn. My memory worked for me today and I managed to get all that I’d listed. Then home.
Out of Order
Well, I am back. Writing was on my agenda for the day – and now I’m almost finished that. I have more shredding to do. That’s going to take ages to clear out the other boxes. Tomorrow. Maybe.
I need a rest. Ice cream, perhaps. My best-made plans are almost done, but not the way I had expected.

A Good Day
Well, it has been a good day. I have achieved most of the things on the To Do List, and I am pleased that I saved a baby bird, and made an old bloke happy by doing so. But I think I will take a rest, and perhaps plan for tomorrow.
Oh, and I can tick off that I have done my post for Day Number 2 of the UBC – and the clues have not yet arrived. The time difference can be challenging. All is well. So far.
