What Magazines on What Coffee Table? – UBC Day 11

What Magazine?

I had to exclaim – What Magazine? Today’s challenge is a BIG CHALLENGE!  I had to think.  In my unit, there is no coffee table and no magazines.  I can’t remember the last time I bought one, and the freebies were cast into the recycling bin last week!

Oh, I do have one.  The regular magazine from the Queensland Writer’s Centre.  It arrived in the mail last week.  Headline?  “Summer.” Apart from the date and issue number (267), there are the names of two writers.

I used to be a regular purchaser of a number of magazines – fashion, travel and cooking, but have not bought any for many years now.

Chat Magazines

Once upon a time, I would have read some of the “chat magazines” too where crazy stories are published about so many famous (or infamous) people.  Fickle, stupid stories that were often wrong.  Some mags use headlines that are disgusting – all in an effort to tempt one to buy them.  Strangely they are the most common ones in waiting rooms at the doctors’ surgery, hairdressers and in hospitals.  Total rubbish and I won’t waste my time reading them.  That is unless I have a long wait and there is nothing else to read.

I’d listen to an Audible book, but I may not hear my name called!

My Choice of Magazines.  What?

I like travel magazines, but as my travel days are now limited, I often choose to ignore them.  If I plan to go anywhere, I am more likely to read as much as possible online.

Cooking magazines were once my favourite as I loved cooking.  These days I am generally a boring cook, as there is only me to cook for.  I am now solo, and family don’t come to visit me often.

However, I am working on moving closer to family and it is my plan to have them visit me more often for a meal and the cooking skills will need to be stimulated!!!
